About
Hi ,
I'm Bonne.
I started in tech professionally in 2018 as a backend dev, but I'd been building things on computers a lot longer than that. AoE2 and Warcraft scenarios as a kid, COD2 maps a little later, then more maps in CS:S and CS:GO (and a stretch of game-related YouTube and streaming somewhere in there too). A half-finished CS degree I dropped once the day job got more interesting than the lectures. The pattern hasn't really changed: I learn by doing.
These days I'm cofounder of a small company, which means coding is a smaller slice of the workday than it used to be (when I do code, it's still Ruby on Rails ❤️). The rest is the work that doesn't look like coding, plus trying to keep up with how fast the landscape is shifting.
As a parent, time is scarce, so in the evenings I like to learn gamedev and work in Godot (aiming to ship a game on Steam before the end of 2030). I run a lot, mostly because I need a concrete goal to actually train for one. Last year it was a marathon. This year it's a 62k. The rest of life is cooking and a lawn I have far too many opinions about.
This site is the side effect of all of that. Devlogs, postmortems, the occasional book or game I've taken apart, notes from the day job. No funnel, no course, no mailing list. Just a peek inside my head, for those who are interested.
